About the Wax-Resin
A wax-resin ribbon is a thermal transfer ribbon that blends wax and resin. It prints sharp barcodes on coated paper and matte synthetic labels and gives better resistance to scratching, smearing and everyday chemicals than a plain wax ribbon. It is a common choice for pharmacy, healthcare, food and retail labels that get handled often.
Wax-resin sits between the other two ribbon types. It is more durable than wax, which is meant for paper labels in clean indoor use, and costs less than resin, which is needed for polyester labels facing harsh chemicals, high heat or outdoor exposure. One wax-resin ribbon can often cover both paper and synthetic labels, which reduces the number of ribbons you need to stock.

When should I use wax-resin instead of wax?
Use wax-resin when printed labels smudge or scratch with handling, or when you print on coated paper or matte synthetic labels. Wax is enough for paper labels used indoors with light handling.
When do I need resin instead of wax-resin?
Choose resin for polyester and other synthetic labels exposed to strong chemicals, solvents, high temperatures or outdoor conditions. Wax-resin covers moderate exposure.
Can wax-resin print on polyester labels?
It works on some matte synthetic labels. For glossy polyester or harsh conditions a resin ribbon gives a more durable print. Share your label material and we will suggest the right match.
How do I check whether my ribbon is coated side in or out?
Stick a corner of a label onto the outer surface of the ribbon roll and peel it off. Ink on the label means the ribbon is coated on the outside; no ink means it is coated on the inside.
