About the Pixavi
The Pixavi Phone is an intrinsically safe Android smartphone made by BARTEC, approved for ATEX and IECEx Zone 1/21. It has a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, a 12 MP rear and 8 MP front camera and IP68 sealing, and weighs 293 g. It suits industrial sites where staff need calls, messaging, photos and apps inside Zone 1 areas.
Unlike the MC27ex-NI and MC93ex on this site, which are mobile computers with built-in scan engines, the Pixavi Phone is a smartphone. It reads barcodes through its cameras, connects over 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC, and takes dual SIM or single SIM plus a microSD card. It comes with Google Play, so standard Android apps can be installed.

Which zones is the Pixavi Phone approved for?
BARTEC's datasheet approves it for ATEX and IECEx Zone 1/21, with markings II 2G Ex ib IIC T4 Gb and II 2D Ex ib IIIC T135°C Db IP68.
Can the Pixavi Phone scan barcodes?
Yes, through its cameras. BARTEC states that both the rear and front cameras support barcode capture. For heavy scanning, a device with a dedicated scan engine is the better fit.
Can we install our own apps on it?
Yes. It runs Android with Google Mobile Services and comes with Google Play, so standard Android apps can be installed and managed.
Can the battery be charged inside the hazardous area?
No. BARTEC states the battery must only be changed and charged outside hazardous areas, and the magnetic USB port must also only be used outside hazardous areas.
Do you provide support for the Pixavi Phone?
Yes. We supply the device, set it up with your apps and provide repair and service and AMC, with PAN India support.
