About the Zebra ZD421D Printer
The Zebra ZD421D is the direct thermal model of Zebra's 4-inch ZD421 desktop label printer. It prints without a ribbon at up to 6 ips at 203 dpi, with 300 dpi as an option, on media 15 mm to 108 mm wide. It suits shipping labels, courier labels, receipts, price markdowns and pharmacy labels in offices, stores, clinics and small dispatch areas where labels do not need to last for years.
With no ribbon to load, it is simpler to run and weighs 1.35 kg. It speaks ZPL and EPL, so older Zebra label formats carry over, and it takes field-fitted Ethernet, serial and Wi-Fi with Bluetooth, a cutter or a peeler, and an optional battery. The ZD421 on our site is the thermal transfer version, for labels that need to last longer. The ZD621 is faster and has Ethernet as standard.

What is the difference between the ZD421D and the ZD421?
The ZD421D is direct thermal only and prints on heat-sensitive labels without a ribbon. The thermal transfer ZD421 uses a ribbon, which gives longer-lasting labels. Choose the ZD421 for asset tags or product labels that must last.
Will the ZD421D work with our courier or ERP software?
Yes. It supports ZPL and EPL and prints from Windows, Android and iOS devices, so it works with most shipping, billing and ERP systems. We can set it up with your software during installation.
Can we add Ethernet or Wi-Fi later?
Yes. Ethernet, RS-232 serial and Wi-Fi with Bluetooth are available as field-installable options, as are a cutter and a label peeler.
Is the ZD421D suitable for high-volume shipping?
It prints up to 6 ips and takes rolls up to 127 mm in diameter, which suits steady desktop volumes. For higher volumes, the ZD621 prints up to 8 ips at 203 dpi.
Do you supply direct thermal labels and service the ZD421D?
Yes. We supply direct thermal labels in your size, and we provide AMC and repair including printhead and platen roller replacement, with PAN India support.
