About the BSC3600
The BCS3600ex-IS series is BARTEC's explosion-protected handheld barcode scanner, based on Zebra's DS3608-HP and DS3678-HP ultra-rugged scanners. It is approved for ATEX/IECEx/UKEX Zone 1/21. The BCS3608ex-IS is the corded model and the BCS3678ex-IS is the cordless Bluetooth model, which is also approved for Class I, II, III Division 1. It suits warehouses and production areas in chemical, pharma and oil and gas plants.
It reads 1D and 2D barcodes with an SE4750-HP imager, can capture up to 20 barcodes with one trigger pull and also captures documents, photos and OCR. It is IP65 sealed and survives 3 m drops to concrete. The corded model needs a BARTEC universal supply module. Unlike the standard DS3608 and DS3678 scanners on this site, it is certified for hazardous areas.

Which hazardous zones is the BCS3600ex-IS approved for?
BARTEC's datasheet approves the BCS3608ex-IS and BCS3678ex-IS for ATEX/IECEx/UKEX Zone 1/21. The Bluetooth BCS3678ex-IS is also approved for Class I, II, III Division 1.
How is it different from the Zebra DS3608 and DS3678?
It is based on Zebra's DS3608-HP and DS3678-HP, but BARTEC builds and certifies it for explosive atmospheres. The standard DS3608/DS3678 scanners are not certified for hazardous areas.
Can the corded BCS3608ex-IS plug straight into a PC?
No. BARTEC specifies a universal supply module for an Ex-compliant power supply and data connection. The scanner connects to the module over RS232 (TTL).
Is there a version for Zone 2 only?
Yes. BARTEC also sells the BCS3608ex-NI and BCS3678ex-NI for Zone 2/22 areas. Tell us your zone classification and we will quote the right model.
Do you support ATEX scanners after installation?
Yes. We supply the scanners, help set them up with your software and provide repair and service and AMC, with PAN India support.
