About the Zebra ZXP Series 3
The Zebra ZXP Series 3 is a direct-to-card printer for plastic ID cards. It prints in full colour or monochrome on one or both sides of standard CR-80 cards at 300 dpi, using Zebra True Colours ix Series ribbons in drop-in Load-N-Go cartridges. It suits offices, schools, colleges and clubs that print employee and student ID cards, access cards and membership or loyalty cards in-house.
The printer is compact, connects over USB with Ethernet as an option, and can add a magnetic stripe encoder or a combined contact and contactless MIFARE smart card encoder. It prints up to 195 single-sided colour cards an hour. The ZXP Series 7 on our site is faster and takes a laminator, while the ZXP Series 9 is a retransfer printer. Zebra no longer sells the ZXP Series 3 and names the ZC300 as its replacement.

Can the ZXP Series 3 print on both sides of a card?
Yes. It prints single- or dual-sided cards. Zebra rates dual-sided full colour printing with a YMCKOK ribbon at 140 cards an hour.
Can the ZXP Series 3 laminate cards?
Zebra does not list a laminator for the ZXP Series 3. If you need laminated cards, the ZXP Series 7 and ZXP Series 9 take an optional single- or dual-sided laminator.
Can it encode magnetic stripe and smart cards?
Yes, with options. It can take a magnetic stripe encoder (ISO 7811, tracks 1, 2 and 3, 30 mil cards) or a combined MIFARE ISO 14443 contactless and ISO 7816 contact smart card encoder. Encoding works over USB and Ethernet.
Is the ZXP Series 3 still available?
Zebra no longer sells the ZXP Series 3 and names the ZC300 and ZC350 as replacements. Zebra's own support for it ended in March 2024, and we continue to repair and service existing printers.
Which ID card software works with it?
It works with Zebra CardStudio card design software and comes with Microsoft-certified Windows drivers. We can set it up with your ID card software during installation.
