About the TSC MX640P
The TSC MX640P is a 4-inch industrial thermal transfer and direct thermal printer with 600 dpi resolution, part of TSC's MX240P series. It prints up to 6 ips and 104 mm wide, which suits very small labels with fine text, small 2D codes and detailed graphics, such as electronics and jewellery labels. It has a die-cast print mechanism and frame with an aluminium cover.
It takes 8 inch label rolls and 600 metre ribbons and has 512 MB Flash, 512 MB SDRAM and a 4.3 inch colour touch display. RS-232, USB 2.0, Ethernet and two USB host ports are standard. The MX240P (203 dpi, 18 ips) and MX340P (300 dpi, 14 ips) are the faster models of the series. TSC has discontinued the MX240P series and names the MX241P series as its replacement.

Should we choose the 600 dpi MX640P or a lower resolution model?
Choose the MX640P when labels are very small or carry tiny text, small 2D codes or fine graphics. For standard carton and shipping labels, the 203 dpi MX240P prints at up to 18 ips against 6 ips on the MX640P.
Is the MX640P still in production?
No. TSC lists the MX240P series, which includes the MX640P, as discontinued from 31 December 2021, with service and support until 31 December 2026. TSC names the MX241P series as the replacement, and its 600 dpi model is the MX641P. We continue to repair and service existing MX640P printers.
Can the MX640P connect over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth?
TSC lists an internal Bluetooth 4.0 module and a slot-in 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi module as options. Ethernet is standard.
Do you replace printheads and supply ribbons for the MX640P?
Yes. We offer repair and AMC, including printhead and platen roller replacement, and supply wax, wax-resin and resin ribbons with paper, polyester and direct thermal labels.
