Barcode Printers

A barcode printer is a thermal printer that prints barcode labels, tags and wristbands for product identification, shipping, inventory and asset tracking. Models range from compact desktop printers for low volumes to industrial printers built for continuous use on production and warehouse lines.

A' Niche Solutions is an authorized partner of Zebra, Honeywell, TSC and CAB. We supply desktop, industrial and mobile barcode printers, healthcare wristband printers, a two-colour CAB printer and Zebra ZXP card printers, along with labels and ribbons, ERP integration and printer repair and service.

How to Choose a Barcode Printer

Print volume and duty cycle

Desktop printers suit a few hundred to a few thousand labels a day. For continuous printing on production or dispatch lines, choose an industrial printer with a metal frame and larger ribbon and label capacity.

Direct thermal or thermal transfer

Direct thermal prints on heat-sensitive labels without a ribbon and suits short-life shipping labels. Thermal transfer uses a ribbon and gives durable prints for product, asset and outdoor labels.

Print resolution

203 dpi is enough for most shipping and carton labels. Choose 300 dpi or higher for small labels, small text, 2D codes and electronic or pharmaceutical component marking.

Connectivity and print width

Check for USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth depending on how the printer connects to your ERP. Standard printers print up to 4 inches wide; 6 and 8 inch models handle larger labels.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about buying Barcode Printers.

Ask Us a Question

What is the difference between direct thermal and thermal transfer printing?

Direct thermal printing darkens heat-sensitive label stock and needs no ribbon, but the print fades with heat and light over time. Thermal transfer melts ink from a ribbon onto the label, giving a durable print on paper, polyester and synthetic labels that lasts for years.

Should I buy a desktop or an industrial barcode printer?

A desktop printer is compact and cost-effective for offices, retail counters and light shipping work. An industrial printer is built for high daily volumes, larger media rolls and harsh environments such as factories and warehouses. It is the better choice for continuous line printing.

Do you supply labels and ribbons for these printers?

Yes. A' Niche Solutions supplies paper, polyester and direct thermal labels along with wax, wax-resin and resin ribbons for the barcode printers we sell. The right combination depends on the label surface and on how long the print needs to last.

Do you repair barcode printers?

Yes. A' Niche Solutions offers barcode printer repair and service. We also supply spare parts such as printheads and platen rollers for Zebra and TSC printers, so worn parts can be replaced instead of the whole printer.
