About the LS 1203 Scanner
The Zebra LS1203, also sold under the Symbol name, is a corded handheld 1D laser barcode scanner. It reads standard linear barcodes such as EAN/UPC, Code 128 and Code 39 at 100 scans per second, with a choice of triggered or continuous Auto-Scan mode. Zebra designed it for small retailers at the point of sale and for back-room tasks such as inventory, so it suits small shops, billing counters and offices.
It has single-board construction and withstands multiple 1.5 m drops to concrete, and one scanner supports USB, RS-232 and keyboard wedge interfaces. Zebra also makes an LS1203-HD version, optimised for small, high-density 1D barcodes on PCB assemblies in electronics manufacturing. The LS1203 reads 1D codes only; for QR codes, the Zebra DS2208 is the corded 2D imager on this site.

Can the LS1203 scan QR codes?
No. It is a 1D laser scanner that reads linear barcodes such as EAN, UPC, Code 128 and Code 39. For QR codes, choose a 2D imager such as the Zebra DS2208.
What is the difference between the LS1203 and LS1203-HD?
They share the same body, laser and interfaces. The LS1203-HD is optimised for small, high-density 1D barcodes, such as those on PCB assemblies, and reads 3 mil Code 39 at up to 3.81 cm.
Will the LS1203 work with our billing software?
Yes. It supports USB, RS-232 and keyboard wedge in one scanner and is designed to be plug and play, so the scanned code is entered into the selected field of most billing software.
