About the FM100-M Fixed Mount
The Newland FM100-M is a small fixed-mount 1D barcode scanner that is built into another machine rather than held in the hand. It measures 37 x 26 x 49 mm and weighs 68 g, and it uses a 2500 pixel linear imager with red LED illumination to read common 1D codes such as Code 128, EAN-13, UPC-A, Code 39 and GS1 DataBar. It suits kiosks, ticketing and vending machines and other equipment where the scanner is built in.
It reads from 40 mm to 430 mm and works in ambient light up to 100,000 lux, so it can be mounted in bright locations. It connects over RS-232 or USB 1.1 and runs on 5 V DC. The FM100-M reads 1D barcodes only. For 2D codes or QR codes on phones at a counter, the Newland FR40 Koi on this site is a presentation scanner that reads both 1D and 2D codes.

Can the FM100-M read QR codes?
No. It uses a linear imager and reads 1D barcodes only. For QR codes, choose a 2D scanner such as the Newland FR40 Koi.
How does the FM100-M connect to our machine or PC?
It connects over USB or RS-232. The RS-232 cable has a power connector and is used with a 5 V DC power adapter.
How far from the barcode should it be mounted?
The depth of scan field is 40 mm to 430 mm, depending on the barcode. Mount it so the barcode passes within that range and within the scan angle limits.
