About the DS4608 Handheld Scanner
The Zebra DS4608 is a corded handheld 1D/2D imager from the DS4600 Series. It reads barcodes printed on labels or displayed on a phone, including QR codes, and can capture DotCode and dotted DataMatrix codes through cellophane as well as the tiny, dense barcodes on jewellery tags. It suits busy retail checkouts, returns desks, receiving and inventory work with a mix of barcode types.
It uses a 1280 x 800 pixel sensor and, on the standard range (SR) model, reads 13 mil UPC codes from contact to 71.1 cm, so cashiers can reach items in a trolley. It is rated IP52 and for drops from 1.8 m. Compared with the DS2208, it adds longer range, GS1 label parsing, multi-code capture and OCR. The DS8108 has a wider field of view and Digimarc support.

What is the difference between the DS4608 and DS2208?
Both are corded 1D/2D imagers. The DS4608 has a higher resolution sensor, reads 13 mil UPC codes up to 71.1 cm away on the SR model against 36.8 cm on the DS2208. It also adds GS1 label parsing, multi-code capture and OCR.
Can the DS4608 read QR codes from a mobile phone?
Yes. Zebra specifies that it reads 1D and 2D barcodes whether they are printed on a label or displayed on a phone.
Can the DS4608 capture several barcodes on one label in one go?
Yes. With Multi-Code Data Formatting it can read multiple barcodes with a single trigger pull and send only the ones your application needs, in the order it expects.
Will the DS4608 work with our POS or ERP software?
Yes. Over USB or keyboard wedge the scanned data is typed into the selected field, so most POS and ERP software works without extra drivers. We can also set it up with your software.
